My name is Martin and I’m born in 1987, the amazing year Ronald Reagon told Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this wall!” and the “International Year of Shelter for the Homeless”. I live in Germany, close to Trier, Germany’s oldest city and close to the Luxembourg border (thank god…).
I graduated in 2006 and two weeks after graduation I began my compulsory military service for 11 months. After my service I studied IT at the UAS Trier for exactly ONE semester before I started working for the USAFE as a cop. Since July 2011 I’m working for the military again.
My big hobbies are sports, history and writing. I play baseball and softball for the Trier Cardinals with whom I won the National Softball Mixed Fast Pitch Championship in 2009. My second favorite sport is football (or for you Americans “soccer”, but get used to the real word). Not playing for a team anymore but I still love to play it. The Boston Red Sox and the 1. FC Köln (Cologne) are my favorite teams. Basically any team sport is interesting for me, for example hockey (Boston Bruins), basketball (Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics) and handball.
I hope I can combine history and writing after my career in the military. My favorite history topics are almost every chapters from the 17/18th century until today. That also means politics are involved and I enjoy having discussions about it. Although I wouldn’t mind being a historian I’d prefer working as a journalist one day.
I think that’s enough for now. Feel free to contact me!
