About me

After 21 posts I finally decided to write something that should be on every blog. A simple ‘about me’.

… and three hours later I still don’t know how to begin but I will anyways.

Well, my name is Martin if you didn’t find out yet. I’m from southwestern Germany, living close to towns like Bitburg, Wittlich or Germany’s oldest city, Trier.

Trier is also the hometown of the baseball and softball team I play for since 2003 – the Trier Cardinals. Most of the time I’m playing for their softball mixed team and we won the German Championship in 2009 and became South West German Champions in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009.

My favorite baseball team are the Boston Red Sox. Been a fan of them since 2000 when my cousin taught me baseball (although he is a Yankee…) and 2004 will be a year that I will never forget. Saw every game from Game 1 ALCS until Game 4 World Series… at 1am/ 2am in Germany…

Football (still association football) is the sport I grew up with but I quit playing in 2001. My favorite team is the 1. FC Köln (Cologne), a great team with amazing fans, an amazing stadium and great tradition but struggling since the early 1990’s. But I have to go through that time.

It’s almost as hard as the time I have with Charlotte, my wonderful girlfriend who I met in 2010 and who lives across the ocean, at least for a couple more months. Although I write lots of nonsense and boring articles she reads (most of) them and I’d like to thank you for that.

I also thank you (yes, you!!), dear reader that you even got that far and I hope I was able to entertain you for a little bit.
